News of a meteorite bound to strike Earth doesn't have much effect on Ma Jin's everyday life; he still gets up and goes to a job where he spends his time daydreaming of a romance with his colleague Shanshan, and of winning the lottery. But when this cataclysmic event occurs during a team-building trip, he finds himself shipwrecked on an island with an odd group of co-workers, and he has the winning lottery ticket in his pocket.

Unsupported by any sort of greater mythology, few of these asides are worth the time Bo spends on them. At best, they distract from the film's disinterest in more plot-driven mysteries.August 22, 2018
It is the morality tale aspect that is actually strongest here... Too bad the actor-director chooses to overstuff the film instead of delivering a cautionary mystery thriller.August 10, 2018
An entertaining if overlong dramedy about company workers splitting into rival factions after being shipwrecked on a desert island.August 10, 2018
The Island is a different movie, with excellent special effects, an intelligent plot (and very deep for an action film), which I assure you will not disappoint. [Full review in Spanish]
